Default Primary Gasket Holder Hack

Here is another attempt to balance out the useless snide, sometimes funny comments, at least I think so I make around here.

I was frustrated one too many times with the re-installation of the outer primary cover gasket that kept falling out of place. I had some old primary cover bolts that I sawed the heads off of and then smoothed down. When I go to install the outer primary gasket I thread them into a few of the holes, hang the gasket and install the cover. Once I have a few of the real bolts installed and the gasket firmly held on by the cover, I remove the headless studs (that were threaded in loosely) and install the remainder of the bolts.

I use a similar technique, but when to Lowes and pick up some nylon 1/4-20 bolts. I cut off the head.

Great idea that I've been using for years. The bolts, 4 of them, are part of my "harley" tools.

Great idea!! Think I may have to make a trip to hardware store and buy some longer bolts that fit the case and remove the heads! Thanks!!

Great tip, one addition is I cut slots in the end so I can use a screwdriver to remove them.

I do the same thing with my Simplicity garden tractor. I was done trying to muscle a wheel and tire on the flange while threading the wheel bolts. With the studs, I can just hang the wheel, start the bolts, replace the studs with bolts and tighten everything down.
