Default Heads

Hey all. I have a 2002 Road King with the S&S 100 package on it with 585 cams, Cobra headers, NH mufflers and a Dynojet Power vision tuner. My question is do I go ahead and port the stock heads, upgrade to newer heads and port them or just buy after market heads. Just curious on thoughts on this. Trying to figure out which direction to go
Thanks

IMHO, it's best to get your heads ported to match your build.

Cheers!

Not sure for yours but for mine the Sreamin Eagle CNC ported heads are only 850$. I'll pay very close if not more then that to have mine done. It's actually much cheaper for me to buy new then resell the old ones on eBay. Something else to consider is the downtime, by buying new it's just a swap out rather than waiting on machine shop and parts availability.

have a reputable head porter do your stock castings, Kirby from VTwin racing and Scott from Hillside are both members here and you cant go wrong with either one. another recommendation would be to think about a different cam. the SS 585 is a great cam in the lighter weight bikes, but can be a bit soft in the heavier touring models. just something to think about. both Scott or Kirby can guide you in that choice as well, but it will be well worth it. over 100 hp and tq is within easy reach with the right headwork.
