Help! I did something really stupid
I am new to the forum, but I really need some advice. I just bought a 2021 Iron 883 Custom and dummy me I just realized the last two fill ups I used regular gas and not premium while still in the break in period. Now I have a tick when rolling. Will Octane boost and premium gas help rid the ticking or is it too late? Mind total gallons of regular gas equals to one tank 3.4 gallons

I don't think the tick is related to the gas. Do you hear it when coasting with engine off?
You will need to update the thread "What I did to my Sportster today" (humor)
p.s. Don't feel bad. I bought a new 1200 Sportster in '06 and filled it with diesel on week 3. She sputtered out a couple miles later and I sadly pushed her back to the station. I drained the carb & tank, filled with gas and fired it up. She sputtered for a few miles and then back to normal. Put another 10K miles on it before I traded for the promised land - Heritage.

Relax that little bit of lower octane fuel did not kill your bike. It will be fine. You are not the first or the last to do this.. At least you did not fill it with diesel . That has been done a few times.
If you take it to the dealer keep your mount shut about the fuel thing. They will use it as a excuse.

You know too much google reading. People saying the internals is already damaged and stuff like that. Started freaking me out.
I will throw in some premium and run her little rattler off to see if that takes care of the ticking sound. Thank goodness it wasn't diesel! (Humor)😄

non existent issue!
9:1 compression ratio hardly calls for high octane fuel
i run a tricked out sport 1200xls and it has never seen one drop of anything over 87 and it is a tad over 10:1 ratio.
gasoline is generic and btu content is the same across the board, only the additives are diff to alter the ignition points.
i get away with it because the way the engine is built as running ratio is lower than cranking due to valve timing/over-lap and ignition timing!
