My 2001 RK seat needs to be either replaced or recovered, but I found this seat online. Mine does not have the strap and I’m wondering where that would’ve attached on the bike.
Is this from a newer model?
The strap, if you choose to retain it, bolts st the forward saddlebag mounting bracket. They share the same 1/4 x 20 mounting bolt. That is a nice seat. It will fit your bike.

Good to know! Thank you.
I wasn't sure if it bolted on the saddlebag mounting bolt or if it required an additional bracket. I had not been able to find any pics that showed how it mounted.
That seat is a factory Road King Classic seat.
It is the seat that factory installed on Road King Classic model. bike.
The strap bolts to same front saddle bag bolt as indicated.
Might need to get longer bolt.
Check factory seat part numbers online but 1997 to about 2007 are similar for touring.
For some reason the front and rear metal tab on seat is sometimes not included.

Got it; the original owner had a different seat installed when he bought it. It had a bigger passenger seat with no strap.
