Default Local shop question? Is this normal given the amount of vendors?

Good evening,
Given the amount of different online vendors that are out there, as well as the amount of chinese crap that is out there disguised as cool looking stuff. Is it ok for your local shop to refuse to accept your part for installation even if the part you have found is the only style you want and the style is not being offered by the vendors the shop does use.
I found some apes 10-12", from Mofun.com harley davidson parts for a 2016 sportster xl1200c. The bars have these supports with three holes in them for support and it also looks good. The meat hook style with support look great, but they are relatively cheap in the website. My local shop told me they are crap. If it's not a reputable parts maker like. RSD, Carlini, Arlen ness, and so on, they are more than likely no good, but the makers he likes don't make the meat-hook style I like with the added support welded in to them with the three incremental holes as cosmetic. WE took some time and looked He says the big makers don't have them in stock or don't make them anymore.
I was surprised when he told me he wouldn't install a manufacturer of something he didn't know.
What would you do? Ask him to risk it and give another maker a shot and I am paying for it to be done. Or go with something that is not exactly the look I am going for?
Now before you all say do it yourself, I don't have the time, the technical skill to do all the wiring as it will involve a lot even with pre-wired set up as all the lines will need to be replaced with stainless and so on.
Additionaly my experiences with the three dealers near me are not only outrageously expensive they have all proved themselves to be severely incompetent. Believe you/me I am am not one to call out anyone out for their mechanical ability, but I could tell you some absolute horror stories with my dealership experiences; So much so I have learned to wrench brakes, and fluids, pipes and air as well as some other not so complicated things like shocks.
SO.......what would you do?

I agree with the shop owner. It's his decision how he runs his shop, not the customers. Do the work yourself, and you get what you want.

I would expect an indy to decline to use parts they are unfamiliar with, and/or cheap parts that could fail, cause injury to the rider, and liability to the shop.
