Default Riding on the side of the road

When I'm in Traffic that is backed up is it unlawful to ride on the side of the road shoulder. Allways see bikers with colors doing it just wondering if its against the law....

As far as I know it is illegal in most if not all states but that is just my understanding. I have not seen any codes or anything in writing saying it is illegal. If by colors you mean 1%ers then they do pretty much as they please. Got passed by a couple Warlocks near Philly both in my lane and both about 20 to 25 mph over speed limit.

In MA I am under the understanding that U can cut traffic if it is dead still and U go by at a slow enough pace that you can react to any issues that arise. I cut a s&^%load of traffic the other day. I usualy don't but I was on a long hill and didn't want to have to wait for a 1/2 an hour to get to the light(wich can happen hear). So I cut it and I have yet to see a cop car that a bike does this. I think that if you are in a state that has some of the countrys worst drivers that the lawdogs won't get on U'r *** too much.

I think you'll find that it is illegal in most states.

Passing on shoulder is a no no. If the shoulder was to get jamed up also. Emergency vehicles could not get thru.[sm=badidea.gif]

Additionally, there is so much crap on the berm (old mufflers, road kill etc..) in my area, I'd be scared to hit something...

It's illegal to pass on the right.
I seen a fellow in a Custom 50's Ford pickup do that very thing in Fortwayne, IN.
Johnny Law greeted him at the intersection with ticket pad in hand!
