Default Indiana and Missouri

Taking a road trip from VT to KS first week of August to see my daughter. Unfortunately, have to take interstates due to time. Plan on taking 4 days to arrive. Second night will be in Ft Wayne, third night should be in St. Louis. Taking I90 and I70. Any pitfalls I should be aware of, shitty/dangerous interstates, high motorcycle theft areas, known construction?

I don't think you'll have any trouble in Ft. Wayne. It's a decent town. There is some crime around there, but I think the crime rate is low compared to the national average. The city has been making a good comeback for a number of years and it's really not bad at all. If you do happen to get off on secondary roads, watch out for the horse and buggies. Last time I was through there they had traffic all chummed up. That won't be an issue on the interstate, obviously. There is a large Amish population in the rural areas around Ft. Wayne. Have a good trip and enjoy the Hoosier state. Try this place if you get a chance: https://www.fortwaynesfamousconeyisland.com/ It's an old dive but it's something unique to the area.

Get west of St.Louis before you stop if you can, towns an armpit and east St louy is to be avoided at all costs. Gonna be hot and probably regular wet.

I live on the north side of Ft. Wayne. No problems anticipated. I assume you will be on Interstate 69 to get from I-90 to I-70. Decent, safe hotels on exit for Indiana State Road 3 north (Exit 311B) on north side. Alternative is exit 302 (Holiday Inn Express is next door to State Police post) with several hotels on south side. Decent restaurants nearby both for dinner.

Don't know much about St. Louis except to get past it. Get at least to St. Charles MO before you stop for the night. I have a son who lives there (he likes it).

Thanks for all the info, I’m learning quite a bit about conditions in St. Louis in another thread. Looks like my best plan is from Ft Wayne to head down and bypass St. Louis completely to St Peters or St Charles.

Myself I prefer to get even farther from St Louis if possible. About another hour west is Kingdom City. It is just a big junction along the road. There is a few decent motels, a couple fast food joints and the Iron Skillet restaurant(good food) at the Petro. A nice rural area.

I go through there quite a bit, if I have to stay in the St Louis area I drop down to I-44 and go to Fenton area to stay. There is a Holiday Inn Express, clean & modern Motel 6, Hampton Inn, Drury Inn, several to choose from depending on what you want. A decent area, I've never had anything bothered on my bike when parked.
