Like MtBlood says do as much of 135 as you can. It is good down to Salem at this time. It is closed at Salem for road repairs. I know a way around Salem, but it would be hard to explain.

The trip you are planning is a great trip, but I need to show you more of southern Indiana some time. Farther south are even better roads. 62 and 66 along the Ohio River are probably the best bike roads in Indiana. We should try to organize a ride down there some time. When we do it we will stop at The Dock restaurant in Leavenworth (great food while watching the Ohio flow by). I know some great roads that take you down 450, 43, and 545 to get to 62 and 66. These are the best! I will start another thread to see if anyone is interested in doing this ride in late September or early October.

I've been working off of Yahoo maps and satellite views to pick routes and it looks like there are a bunch of good options. 446 and that stretch of 46 from Bloomington to Nashville are both in the mix already. It looks like that run east on 45 out of Bloomington thru Bean Blossom to 135 might be some good riding too.

Thx for jumping in here with that info, I'm looking forward to spending the whole day down that way.

That's a really good idea, I forgot about 58. I would take it, it has more corners than 50 and takes you through a couple little towns..

The ride was great OZ. We went down 37 to Martinsville then cut over to 135 on 252. Rolled into Nashville 'bout lunch time so we slipped the bikes into the lineup on the main drag and had lunch. The last time I was in Nashville was so many years ago I can't even remember exactly when it was but Nashville is way more of a tourist trap than it was back then. I don't mean that in a bad way, it's a neat little town, just a lot "busier" than I remember. The place was fairly crowded and I'm told it's usually worse than what we saw Sunday. I imagine this is pretty normal for Nashville, lots of bikes in and rolling thru' town. If you love the sound of Harley's this was a little slice of heaven. The sound of healthy V-Twins was nearly constant.

We took 135 south out of Nashville down to 58 and like you said, that is a great ride! Really enjoyed the twists and turns on that stretch. When I first got the Wide Glide I was a little concerned about how it would handle in the twisties, what with the skinny front tire and rake angle, but I've long since figured out that it handles the curvy stuff with ease. Skipped stopping at the resturant in Story this time since we had just done lunch, have to hit that one next time. Took 58 over to 446 and came back up to Bloomington then 46 back over to Nashville again. Stopped in a little bar & grill for a cool down then back up 135/252 then called it a day and headed home.

All in all an easy day ride out of Indy and there's at least a couple more routes I want to ride in that area plus doing 135 south of Nashville again. I'll be headed back down that way again before this riding season ends.

It was good meeting you Superglide06 and good riding with you. Lookin' forward to next time.

Al.
