just a info blurb from the run.....
This years event kicks off in New Norway at 730 a.m. where the New Norway Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast. There will also be a Village Parade at 10 a.m.
Registration for the ride takes place at the Steel Horse between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. There will then be a blessing of the bikes and the riders will leave New Norway en masse at 11:45 a.m. sharp. The riders will be met by members of the Camrose RCMP detachment and the Camrose Police Services who will escort them into Camrose for the memorial ceremony at the Camrose Legion, which will be carried on Cable TV (Camrose's Community 10 Channel). Wreaths will be laid by a Canadian forces veteran from Cold Lake and by Gord McLean, representing the supporters of the military. Following the Ceremon, the riders will continue on with a 250km country poker ride which will end back at the Steel Horse later that afternoon.
Thoughout the day there will be activities at the Steel Horse including a live band, a silent auction with items donated by a variety of local businesses, a hot dog and hamburger barbeque, face-painting for the kids, and more. There will also be 300 special commemorative T-shirts for sale. Master of Ceremonies for the day will be Gord's brother Wynn McLean. Gord's sister Debbie Lentzz from Wetaskiwin will be helping with the barbecue. The silent auction wraps up at 5:30 p.m. and the entertainment will run through until 1:00 a.m.
"Even if you don't ride, come and check out the silent auction, listen to some music, have a hambuger or hot dog, do some visiting, and meet some new people, this is my personal invitation to all" - Gord McLean
For those who decide to stay the night at the New Norway Campground, the Steel Horse will be hosting its first annual Show and Shine and Bike Games on Sunday. Riders can stop in for a "Bacon and Egger", enter their bikes for the peoples choice award, and take part in the Bike Games.
