Good idea on the spacer, and glad to know about the clutch cable. As a matter of fact, my bars are wide glide bars. My boy said thanks papa and gave me a big hug. I'd promised him a couple years now to take him out. I guess it just didn't seem right on a fat bob, but this is a different story. I just got back from a quick spin around town and out on the freeway, feels good to be back on the road again. Thanks for the info on the tires.

AFMM3 - my FXDF wheels and tires are:
Front - 130/90B16
Rear - 180/70B16

What issues would I have with different wheels on my bike? Spacing for the axle? On another note, I shouldn't have any problems getting white wall tires for those wheels should I (if I decide on that down the road)?

The front wheel I am using is the standard 16 X 3.00 drop center FL type used for probably the last 40 years. I replaced the spokes with chrome ones, installed new 25 mm bearings.

The rear wheel I made myself. Rather than research all the rear wheel possibilities, if any, I unlaced my 17 inch Dyna rear wheel, cut about three threads off of each spoke to slightly shorten them and relaced my hub to a 16 X 5.00 rim from a 2010 Road King.

If I was you, I would just start rsearching options and collecting on eBay for the winter.

Hey AFMM3 ... was looking at Panheads and came across this 1964 DuoGlide ... as we had been discussing rails for saddlebags a few days ago, thought I'd post this photo ... I could see doing something like this with my bags ...

That bike makes me think I do want a real DuoGlide. I have an idea for saddlebag rails but I will have to build them from scratch. Next winter.

I was telling my father about a 1985 FLHT Police Shovelhead a forum member was showing off (don't blame him!) the other day. I'll be damned if he doesn't call me back today and tells me he tracked a guy down that apparently has several of them STILL IN THE CRATE! He said he will do whatever it takes to get one. I'll keep you all posted.

Well an '85 (last year they were available) Shovelhead is no Panhead ... but ... very attractive alternative nonetheless ... I was out and about yesterday afternoon when I struck up a conversation with a guy on a '79 Shovelhead Low Rider ...

Really piqued my interest in obtaining some old iron for myself ... just haven't figured out whether I should find a 'basket case' or 'fixer upper' ... or try to find a really clean bike, even if I had to pay top dollar ...

If you find a source of bikes of the same caliber as FLYER ... definitely do not keep it under your hat ... (PM me at a minimum) ...

Just read about 15 pages. Unbelievable work and idea's! Can anyone point me in the direction or pages of changing my front end over to a Softail. Going from a 2001 Dyna to a 2002 Fatboy front end. Pretty much have everything I need now. Thanks folks! Larry
