Actually my son-in-law is loaning me his hood. He doesn't need it anymore. He went from heavy machinery maintenance to pre-med. It's auto-darkening. Only thing is he's in Phoenix, I'm in Flagstaff, and I won't see them until t-giving. But, I may not get a chance before then anyway. How are you using those new ones? I thought you had fat bob forks on your duo. One of these days, I can see a grizzly milling/lathe combo in my future. But, need a seat, bags, wheels and so on.

I may be using Fat Bob triple trees but I kept the Street Bob forks. You would think the only difference between Fat Bob sliders and the other Dynas would be the right side brakes but the 2 holes for mounting the fender have different spacing from each other.

So, am I going to have a problem mounting a heritage fender even with those klockwerks brackets? I'm a little confused.

Lone Watie - I think one of the reasons the Touring fender does not extend further down in the front is that there are side cover panels that go in front of the saddle bags ... that space is completely concealed on Touring models ....

That was one reason I bastardized an early '58-'73 fender ... it presents its own complications, but being too short in front is not one of them ....

Chop - thanks for the links to your work. I was going to go with just spacers for my width issue, but after seeing your work, I think a solid piece to run the length of the strut is in order to make it look right. Like you my struts are about 1/2 inch wider than my fender (which is around 9 in wide), my strut width being about 10 inches wide.

As for the front of the fender and the gap, I have a couple ideas:

1. Check out the battery tray from a 2011 touring, which appears to serve as fender extension, but would have to trim off the excess
2. Fabricate from scratch with sheet metal (have a buddy willing to help with that who has some experience in such things
3. Sacrifice my fat bob fender for the good of the whole and see if I can trim away something from there to attach to the street glide fender that will be feasible.

Chop - also, why did you extend the strut further back from the stock strut? Is your rear fender different radius than tire that had to account for? Just curious.

What year/make is your original bike you worked with? I can't remember.

Lone Watie - trying not to be confusing. The Klockwerks brackets are for your bike, not mine. That is why I made my own. You are good to go.

Thanks for the clarification on that; sorry to be a paranoid pete, just hate to get parts in and have them not work. Just tell me to use the force and trust you gurus who have already been down this road.

AFMM3 - I see you have fender trim on the front, did your front fender come dimpled for trim/tips, or was it plain smooth. I like the trim you have, but don't want to put a lamp out there. The new ones I see on e-bay or k&g come undrilled with not dimples OR drilled with dimples for trim. Trying to figure out which one I need/want. Thanks.

If you go with a fender from a Softail Heritage Classic, you cannot go wrong. It requires that you install something on the front and the spears. I have the modern Roadking front and rear fender tips. I also didn't want fender lights.
