I'm digging this little weapon, 4WD track into here, bottomed the back out twice on the way in, 3 turns more compression each on the rear shocks and sweet as on the way out, grin a mile wide.

How's it go on the sand, although better drop at least 10psi first?

Dunno yet Steve, the track in is mainly rocky with a couple of creek crossings in gullies, there are a couple of offshoot tracks that are sandy but I didn't have time or the fuel to give them a go today, hit reserve on the way home, glad it didn't cough coming up out of the second creek 😁

Took the Slim to town this morning to see my parents, as fun as the gremlin is the black girl is still king of the tar, power to weight there really is no comparison, the slim kills it.

Went looking for any pics I had of the Sporty on the beach when I took it to Fraser Island. I took 2, one of it next to the Maheno wreck but haven't found them yet. Did find this, old chemical photo of my daughter and I on the beach at Woodgate. Norton days, her first pillion ride actually, seeing if her legs were long enough to graduate from sidecar passenger.

Where I live now, upper Brisbane River valley, I'm on the west side of the
Conondale range. Back at Obi Obi where I used to live, I was on the eastern side of it about 100 kms away by road.Over the last 40 years I've done a lot of poking around up in those mountains, starting with a Norton, then really all my bikes. Probably the most suitable was a 1974 500 Triumph Adventurer, but the Sporty does OK.
These days the dirt roads in the hills are full of ADV riders, mostly they seem to stay on gazetted roads like me, although the bikes, and some of their riders are far more capable.
There is quite a lot of video content online of riding these roads. Good search terms are Bella creek road, Hart Rd, Mt Buggery Rd, Monsildale Rd, Louisavale rd.
This one is good example.

The Sporty and Vic bagger have been on all these roads.

This is the remnant of my first adventure with drones, maybe 2010? No auto follow or anything like that, did have auto return to launch point, control had 200m range if I remember correctly.
After 3 months I managed to park it about 60 feet up in a big flooded gum on my Obi property. No way to climb up, didn't have any strap on climbing spikes, storm and heavy rain was coming.
Thought I'd try pruning the branch with the .303.
It worked, took 7 shots, 1 complete miss, but when the branch fell it smacked the drone into the ground and stuffed it. Bugga!
Can't see me getting back into them, sorry.

Took both bikes for a blat today, the slim next to the tallest lighthouse in the southern hemisphere and the gremlin covered in grandkids 😁
My first job after finishing my apprenticeship in 85 was needle gunning that big bugga back to bare rock from top to bottom, still my favourite job I've ever had.
