You can't go wrong with leather, but it is all a personal choice. When cold weather sets in here I wear my leather jacket, but as it warms up, I tone it down to a light jacket then to just a t-shirt.
I saw a wreck the other week where a ricer hit a deer @ 60mph or so, in one of them full riding suits and got up and walked away, nothing hurt but his pride, the bike and the deer. One of my old friends had a similar wreck years ago on a Honda V65, in just a flannel shirt and jeans, he walked away, well was carried away with some road rash, and a few broken bones.
The best piece of protection that you put on will be your thinking cap, treat it as an American Express card and never leave home with out it

When the weather gets hot, I wear a Tourmaster mesh jacket with armor. I have a light complexion and a lot of money invested in tattoos so I don't do the sun real well. The mesh jacket, besides offering armor protection, is actually cooler when riding than being in a t-shirt. It shades you from the sun and the air flowing through the mesh provides a cooling effect.

Weather looks like it will hold out for a good weekend. Going to be HOT though, but I'll take it. Couple of bike shows/rallys going on nearby, so probably check those out. Safe riding to the GA gang!

I have been reading and talking and looking all over the net about riding gear, and I don't think there is a one coat solution, thats if I don't want to drive around in July in Bama with a ice chest on the back of the bike. So It looks like I will have to mix it up with the mesh coats for summer and leather for the cooler months. ohh my bank account is screaming already at me

Got in around 200 miles today. Rode to a small rally a little over an hour from here. It was definitely good to get back on the bike, since the rain finally let up. Hopefully will get in a few tomorrow too!

Been riding to work and taking the long way home each evening. Nice wind down after work. Looks like rain is heading our way though by Thurs. Weekend is looking okay though, which is great!
