The final straw for me is what some campgrounds want for night of grass space with no electricity.

When I'm looking to travel on the cheap I go back out by the interstate and find a Lowes or Home Depot that has sheds on display in the lot (Google maps and streetview usually confirms this). A good meal, wait til they close, ride my scoot inside, shut the doors and lay out my bed roll. I roll out in the morning 50-80 bucks richer.
that genius. never thought of doing that. for my next trip tho I might have to do that a few times in my 3 week trip. that would save some bucks.

maybe , we could spin it all day.

The home depot idea is geniuos, Id probably pass on that, seeing i have a spotless record and that could lead to trespassing, and possably soliciting charges , humm not sure about that one.

or for the mom and pops they put out of business,or the labor they sent overseas ... maybe if you paid for what you used it would be a different scenario? ... Just a thought.

Naw that's the Appalachia in me

In thinking about it, I guess it's a bit unethical. I started doing it years ago when I was on a budget traveling around the country. Before that, I was a graveyard or tree line in between the interstate kind of guy for budget, on the move accommodations. Reading some of the responses has made me think about the practice.

Back to the campers. Here's where a camper would suit me: I'd like one for places that are a days ride or less where I intended to stay 2 or more days and ride the area. That way I'd only be strapped hauling the thing to and from and I'd only have one set up and one break down. I used to camp at a motorcycle only campground down in Cruso, NC but I threw my tent away when they got camping cabins

Do it, they're good fun. This is a Bunkhouse, got it for $3800. By the time I got it delivered and installed hitch and lights I was into it for about $4700. Small enough to store in garage, and can pull it with an SUV when you want to take the dog camping.
