Lehman Disc Brake Conversion-How To
I have an 01 Renegade kit on a Harley FLH and decided to add rear disc brakes. Lehman offers a kit on several dealer web pages, but when I tried to purchase one, I was told they were not available and I could purchase a complete new rear end equipped with disc for $4,000. Nobody at Lehman or any dealer could not tell me why they offered a kit, but would not produce it. No way was I giving these people 4K for a set of disc brakes.......so I built my own. If anyone is interested in making a disc conversion for a drum brake equipped Lehman, I can guide you through it.
Parts will cost your around $350-$400, depending on your sources. I am not a machinist, nor do I have a lathe. I did do some fabrication in my garage and had some minor machine work performed on a pair of rotors.
Lehman did everything humanly possible to prevent anyone from figuring out what parts they cobble together to manufacture their rear end. I certainly don't fault any company for protecting confidential information. Everybody knows us Harley nuts and we will make every effort to build a better mouse trap. It took me a while but I dug it all out. Just for pure joy, I will share "how to" with any interested party.

Doesn't matter what the kit is on...it could be on an Ox-Cart. All that does matter is the axle flange pattern. If it's a Ford 8.8 fox bodied flange pattern...my plans will work. Fox bodied Fords were the mid 80's to early 90's Mustang, Pinto, T-Bird...etc. Generally Lehman used Pinto parts and axle flange pattern. The only reason I say is that the caliper support bracket will have to match the bolt pattern on the axle flange.
