Thumbs up Reimbursement!

I posted an earlier thread on finding galled spark plug threads in both of the heads on my wife's TG, while doing the 5000 mile service. Our current home dealer, Cajun Harley of Scott, LA, did a great job of responding to our problem and doing the repairs I requested, in less than a day. They also tried to get the repairs paid for by HD.

Unfortunately, we were stiff-armed by the HD rep.

Today, however, I have been informed by the service supervisor at the dealership (Bellingham Harley of Bellingham, WA) where the 1000 mile maintenance was done that he will reimburse me for the repairs to the heads! He didn't make any arguments or excuses; once he saw that I had to repair the heads, he simply stepped up to the plate and took care of us in a very professional manner. No whining, no nothing. I am actually not surprised, since that dealer has always been great to deal with, and their service department has always been top-notch, in our experience.

There is no way I can know what caused the galling, whether it was missing lubricant or a design failure. I think the dealer is reimbursing us simply as a matter of treating their customers well, which they have always done. So, either they are taking up the slack left by HD on a poor design, or they are making things right after an oversight on the 1000 mile service. Either way, I say they deserve a round of applause. Any mechanic can make a mistake, if that is what happened. When you find a dealership that is this determined to make the customer whole, regardless of whether it was their fault or not, I say you've got a keeper.

Thats great to hear you've had a very positive outcome. I had mine and my dads triglides taken care of yesterday. They were able to pull the rear plug right out and put the anti-seize on with no problem. My hats off to our dealer also, they recognized a problem and stepped up to the plate to make it right. In the process they were able to identify an issue and take care of it.

It's good to hear positive results from a dealer once in a while. I wish it could be more often.

We are very fortunate as we have a good relationship with our dealer and service manager.
