No! Not in the slightest. I had 22 Honda's up to the VTX 1800 and Rune which was touted by Honda as their best example of styling and engineering. Both were duds. My Roadster, Streets, XR1200 are all better bikes.
I had Yamaha's, Suzuki's and Kawasaki's also. Until I got my first H-D at age 65 did I find out what fit, finish and quality is.
A battery going bad in about 30 months has little to do with HD. None on my metric batteries ever made three years.
Whatever the electrical gremlin that the Street Rod has will impact my impression of the handling, ride and overall performance of the bike.
I hear this "old technology" all the time without the author ever saying what is the old technology being identified.
If it is air cooled the old technology claim is totally false. The first internal combustion engines were water cooled and the first patent was in 1852 in Germany. It took another 5 decades to learn that air cooled was a better application for early aircraft and motorcycles due to less parts, lighter weight and more reliability.
If not for EPA's lean burn requirement for lowering emissions in the 70's there would still be cars with air cooled engines.

The 15's had a seal problem that wasn't a repair item so they had to replace the entire assembly.
The tech was baffled and he is the one that had special training on the Streets just last winter.
It would shut off like it did for me then he reset and it would start again then shut off. The fuel pump would get the signal but would not spool up. Then it would and the pressure was to spec. He worked on it all day then when for a ride and it keep going.
They hadn't called the tech dept yet when I was there but I did say I wouldn't take off on a long trip with it unless they provided a chase vehicle with a 2nd bike.

H-D is very concerned about the Street Rod. They sent their own tech out to check it. He concluded that it needed a new fuel pump. That was my conclusion in Hannibal, Mo. That was the local dealers tech's conclusion. Great minds all work the same.
But it appears that the fuel pump is on backorder! The dealer has a Street Rod coming in soon. He said was going to pull the pump from it to put in mine. I told him not to worry. If all my 21 other bikes go down then I would be hurting for a ride.
I am a patient and understanding person. Well maybe for one more week.
