See the Street 750 for what it is. A lower cost entry level bike. They designed this thing to be dropped. It is a simple bike with a great engine in it. Having a blast with the one I added to the collection. Already found just how far I can take in a curve it will drag early but that could be improved.
The Street Rod is an major upgrade from the Street. Two different bikes .
The street has a lot of room to play with if you are willing to drop some cash on on it.

 

I'm coming up to 5K miles on my Street-Rod 750 and all in all I'm in love with the bike. It's a great blaster, I did 250 miles today without breaking a sweat before coming into work. I have had a Warranty issue (intake boot ripped) but my Dealer stood behind the bike and got me back on the road... I should have well over 10K on it by the end of the season, I installed Street 750 highway bars and pegs... The extra foot placement options is critical on this bike... I love it. Went to Laconia and back on it (1K miles in 3 days) took it like a champ... They Make 1000cc Version and Harley has a new customer for life!

 

I too did a test ride on both the street and the street rod, with my minimal riding experience I was able to jam up the brakes on the street within a few meters of riding. Not good for Indian road conditions. Front shocks would go all the way down and even then the brakes would not hold.
On the street rod, no problems the dual brakes are much better though yes I will soon forget where the rear brake pedal is. Couple of months to go before I can start to mod the foot position. Where should I start though? Fabricate my own or buy some aftermarket stuff like Kuryakyn.

 

In India dropping cash on this seems to be in the 500 USD to 750 USD range, I read in this forum of someone spending 30 USD for handlebar risers. Now that I can afford

 

I too have fitted the original Street 750 foot pegs to my Street rod but still not OK. I want to drop them down by 2 to 4 inches even if I scrape them on turns not a problem. Dropping them pegs down is easier than doing surgery on my hips ( Joking). I hope

 

Just curious what do you mean by designed to be dropped?
