Goodbye Street-Rod Hello XR1200
So I have traded my Street-Rod back in with just shy of 13K miles on the clock with 6 months of ownership.
I had to trade it in for I was told by my health care provider that the bike was what caused my hip sprain and could lead to early arthritis. Being 33 years old I found this to be unacceptable and started talks with my dealership to trade the bike back in. The doctor told me the sprain likely happened on my 3K mile trip I did with the bike in 5 days... My posture on the bike put me into this squatting Frog stance that was not conducive to good joint health.
Riding the Street-Rod was so horrible for rides over 100 miles that I didn't ride the XG750-A for almost a month...
This 2010 XR1200 with 2K miles landed at my dealer Saturday shop and it was a no brainer to trade the XG750-A in for it. The bike quality is worlds apart, same with posture and comfort... Power wise they bikes are very similar with the Evo motor being loads torquier. The Evo motor in the XR1200 sports high performance heads and tighter clearances allowing for a 7K RPM redline (high for 1200cc Evolution motor). Anyway I'll be hanging in the sporty side of the forum now. I did 318 miles the other day and didn't break sweat and not a pain killer taken... I couldn't have done that with the XG-A.
Good luck with your Street's! Just be wary if you want to put big miles on this bike... It might end up damaging your body in the long run.

Ahhhhhhh, the 'ol XR1200. I have a '10. One of the 3 other bikes now jealous of the Street Rod. You'll love the XR. A different animal all together but still loads of fun in it's own way. The suspension needs to be sorted. At least for me. First thing I did. Oh, and orange is the fastest color!!!!

I'll be interested to read about your continuing adventures on the XR Jedz. I decided to upgrade from an old Sportster and debated on whether to purchase an XR1200x or the XG750A. I eventually decided on the street rod because of the warranty and the good reviews it was getting on handling. After only about 500 miles in a couple of weeks, my hips are already sore. New wider foot pegs have helped the foot placement issues a little bit but the cramped sitting position gets very uncomfortable in traffic. I am only 5'8" so it's not like I'm extra tall or anything. Maybe you can post back here how the 2 bikes compare after you put some miles on it and we can see if you are happy with the change.

Not entirely unexpected.
Thanks for letting us ride along while you had it. Sorry it was hurting you.
There's an XR1200 near me, but I think going to hang with the XG750A.
I haven't noticed any trouble with my hips, but like I said, I'm reasonably short of leg. I personally would prefer the tank a little narrower and taller. We'll see how the aftermarket does with the XG750A. I hope it's not another "oddball" in the HD lineup.
Interested to know what the dealer gave you in trade for it though.
Enjoy the new (to you) bike...

How's the Corbin? I'm looking at a post factory seat for some touring for next year (3K mile trips in 5-7 days)
I love the all black, great looking bike.
Roger!
I's 6' even most of my height being in my legs so the XG750-A was hurting me pretty bad.
Bike Booked on average of $4800 for trade-in... Mileage is what killed it is what I was told. I did negotiate some on my trade, and made out well on the XR1200.
The XR1200 had 2500 miles... So it's in like new condition. Purchased by a collector.
