I don't believe I need to take the primary cover off to take the starter out, I just wanted to see how it was engaging (or lack thereof) so it was more just for visual purpose.

I think starter gear is coming coming out. That is a pretty loud click. What is not happening is the starter motor is not spinning.
Soliniod kicks gear out and turns on starter. That is happening. Starter is getting power, electric motor is just not running.

Did you try whacking the starter with a mallet like the old days? Lol.

@Ben221 I'm not against hitting it a few times to see if that does the trick. Haha!

Man, if you can't pull a starter apart, you sure bought the wrong bike.

@RIPSAW Oh I'm going to pull it apart and try to fix it, just want to have one ready to go in case it can't be fixed. Free returns on the one I bought so no harm there.

Cool. Just wanted to know why a dunking would hurt it. Know it's sealed on the outside.

I have taken apart starters and cleaned them with success on older Honda’s. I think it will be fine.

Good luck!!

@Ben221 I'm hoping that a little disassembly, cleaning and reassembly is all it needs!
