Update from today ...

Met jaymiller5 at Starbucks in Mt Airy, MD this morning. We talked with a retired couple that was scooting around on a new trike, had some coffee and headed for Front Royal. It was a perfect day for a ride.

Took 70 to Frederick and then 340 across the Potomac and into West Virginia for a bit. Took a few seriously backroad country roads and a couple wrong turns (I led today) and rolled into Joe's Steakhouse at 12:30. 92FLHS was already there, with a broken stator connection and dead battery. A little lunch, a trip to Autozone and 20 repair minutes later, our collective inner-MacGyvers prevailed and 92's bike was in good shape. We did the official mascot hand-over and headed down Skyline Drive. 92 has pictures to post.

Lots of curves, 70 or so miles, a gas stop and a chihuahua with a pink helmet and goggles later we had all managed to keep the shiny side up and parted at Rt. 33. Jaymiller5 and I headed north while 92FLHS headed back to Roanoke with the mascot.

Just want to say thanks to nopetrol, inthechateau, 92FLHS and mostly jaymiller5 for a great weekend. According to Google Maps, this group moved the mascot about 460 miles this weekend plus nopetrol's miles from NJ to PA. I ended up putting 756 miles on my bike, 399 yesterday and 357 today.

Also want to say thank you to FXD2003Rider for giving me the heads up the mascot was coming our way.

 

By that time the Mascot will be in FL already.

]I met up with Voudoujoe and jaymiller5 in Front Royal yesterday for the hand off then rode down Skyline Dr and the Blue Ridge Parkway back to Roanoke.



A big thanks goes to Jay as he allowed me to ride his brand new Electra glide to the auto-zone to pick up a fresh battery. Mine was dead from riding 2.5 hrs with no stator connection After some McGiver engineering on the connector all was good (real men use pink wire ties on their Harley's not yellow!) and we were off to the Shenandoah National Park. I had a dumbass attack and pulled over to quick for some petrol without checking if Vou was far enough back to react but Vou was paying attention and no incident occurred. OBVIOUSLY to much lone wolf riding on my part lately and I apologized appropriately. We met a cool little biker pooch



in the parking area and traded some wind with the owners. then it was back on the drive to highway 33 where we parted ways and they could head back north.

Mascot will be leaving 0800 on the 18th heading for Charlottesville Va for a meet with fwb35 and then on to Richmond to be taken by Mike_M.

 

No harm, no foul. But, for the record, I was prepared to keep that secret. You know ... what happens on Skyline Drive, stays on Skyline Drive.

 

Shouda warned the guy with the dog that the "queens of the road" might be looking for a mascot. Good thing Eve wasn't with you. Cool pictures though.
