As an added thought. that 3-second timer on the fuel pump is in the system relay. Usually, on older bikes, the same relay is in an identical start relay and is unused there.
Once the motor starts, the ECM bike computer that does all the engine management receives signals from the crank sensor on the front left of the engine near the closed end of the oil filter, tells the fuel pump to run all the time while the engine is running. There is a pressure bleed in the tank that keeps the pressure at around 65psi. That way, the engine is always ready for idle or WOT.
There is a safety feature built into the signal light control called a bank angle switch. That kills the fuel pump if the bike goes over too far too long.
