You can do a lot to them. You really need to sit down with your daughter and figure out what she likes. The stock look or modified.
I myself prefer the rat bike look. Ape hangers, hardtail, etc. A lot of people think you should keep them stock, and that's fine. Just not my style.
Would like to see some pictures of it.

Mine is not a hardtail. I am working on saving the money to buy one and weld it on.
Sounds like you got an XLCH. Thats a good find. Should be a great bike for yah.
Here's mine.

My first and only store bought HD was a '76 XLCH.
We were looking for a 'new' ride for Momma to move up to, from her starter, GZ 250.
My idea was to take an Ironhead, White with red and blue striping down center, chrome the chit outta it, and it would be a RWB copy of a Nightster, called a "Whitester".
But the more I thought 'bout sending her 35 miles to work on an Ironhead, the less I liked it. She has a hard time remembering to check oil in her cage. So I ended up finding the 96 Sporty, she got for Christmas.
2217 Actual miles, $4900
