CUJO IS BACK FROM THE DEAD!!!
Since so much as transpired since I decided to take a little time off the Forum toget my arm in a better place, I decided to just start a new thread and try to remember all that I have spent the last 2 hours reading.
First, I am thankful Stan wasn't hurt any worse than he was; thank God for that!! Keep riding little brother!!
Secondly, I want to thank everyone for your support while I have been gone even though I would read some of the threads and missed all the drama, I am extremely thankful for the friends I have with the HHs! I have been in contact throughout this ordeal with several members of the HHs and I know they kept everyone else updated.
As for my update:
I now have an 11" plate and 10 screws in my arm. The new docand I are veryconfidentthis will do the trick and put Kaye and I back on the bike sooner than origianlly anticipated. Four days post-surgery and I am able to raise my arm over my head with almost ZERO pain. Got to wean off the pain meds and will INSIST they start that Monday. While I love to drink and smoke (cigs only and haven't done that to any level worth mentioning in 7-8 weeks), I do not care for the physical addiction associated with heavy pain meds; and NO, I get no benefit from taking them.
Funny story now but wasn't when it was happening; apparently, I have this huge tolerence to pain meds. After surgery, I spent over 4 hours in recovery while they tried to get the pain level to a tolerable level for a conscious person. Unknown to me at the time, there was a pain management Dr./specialist, an anaesthesiaologist, a surgeon and several operating nurses, watchingas I wentthrough excrusiating pain with really no idea as to how to get it under control. According to my nurse and the pain management doc the next day, I was was begging them to just knock me back out as it was hurting soooo bad. The pain management doc told me he gave me a enough medication to knock down an elephant and itreally had no affect. He called the anaesthesiaologist because he was afraid he was going to kill me with the amount of medication he was giving me and asked him to administer the meds to put me back to sleep until he could get my pain under control. Needless to say, when he saw me the next day, he told me he has never, ever, given a person weighing 177lbs (yes, I lost 12 lbs during the whole ordeal) that much medication. According to all the books, I should have been dead!! In the infamous quote from Samuel L. Jackson in the movieThe Long Kiss Goodnight"You can't kill me Mutherf**kas!"
Kaye and I are really looking forward to getting back on the road again. With each passing, sunny and warm day, we look at the bike and yearn for the open road shared with our friends, the HHs.
The May 18th date for the HH cookout at Dave and Carol's palce is right in line with my recovery plan; we WILL be on the bike rain or shine!! We look forward to seeing everyone once again and look forward to meeting those who have joined our ranks as HHs. I will be updating the MSP along with the HH calender thread. From what I am able to gather, the next thing scheduled IS the May 18th gathering of the Helions @ D&C's place. Dave, are you sure your neighbors are ready for us??? The worlds loudest Heritage will be screaming down your road once again.
Stan, I am glad you are doing well since your spill. While I haven't met you yet, I trust the judgment of the Hellions, if they say you are a good guy, then you are in my book as well. Glad to have you with us.
As for the rest of you MFers, a GREAT BIG THANK YOUfor your support throughout my ordeal. Glad to be back. I attached a picture of the new zipper I now have on my arm. It is approximately a foot long (measured it with my D**k for accuracy).I also have the previously installed hardware which I will proudly display as I am going to have it turned into something I can carr
