Well we know from the above link that the M8 engine can go 350 miles with no oil pressure before seizing, that's pretty impressive!

That is correct, a relief valve is located in the pump and there are two different pumps used, based on the model, but only one cam plate. Here are a few photos of the ones we have apart. You can see the difference in the pumps for the various pump elements and the pump elements being use. Also a photo of both sides of the cam plate. There is no oil pressure sensor anymore, from what we've found, it is just a pressure switch. So you get Oil pressure OK or check oil for your two messages now.

Default Oil PSI

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck finding info on the statement made in the 1.20.1 infotainment update
"• Vehicle Information screen will display “OK” or “Check Oil”
for oil pressure on MY17 models. Oil pressure values can
be enabled with a P&A accessory for MY17 vehicles. "

I have been asking my dealer service and parts people but they have not been able to find anything yet. I was wondering if anyone on here has found any information. Please don't respond with' no need to display oil pressure anymore on these new engines'

Thanks, Mitch

The Water Cooled engine uses the smaller oil pump assemble and the Oil cooled model uses the larger. The suction side of both pumps appear to be the same, its just the feed side of the Oil cooled that's huge compared to the Water cooled version. So they stepped the pump up to handle the Oil Cooler and head cooling oil flow.

I do not know the answer for sure but can tell you each model we have had apart (107 OC, 107 WC and 114 WC) all have had three wires in the harness side of the plug. So by replacing the Oil switch to the proper Oil Sender would not be all that hard. Since there is no such option in the SE catalog maybe its coming out later.

My Ultra Limited in for engine change for this problem. My oil light came on the first day after hitting operating temp at idle. Made it to 1000 mile service, running great. Oil light on but oil still flowing. Metal fragments in engine. Don't have all the details, but Harley not taking chances, going straight to engine swap.

I'm waiting for my engine swap too. Bad oil pump relief valve was sticking possible metal shavings in motor. Less than 700mi.
