Default Need dimensions on a Road King

Greetings,

Took a test ride on a 2017 RK a couple of weeks ago and am smitten. I'm on Switchback currently and need to know what is the width of a Road King? It is not listed on the specs on the HD site.

Width as in the widest spot? Or at the bags? Handlebars? Seat?

Just curious to know why you need this info?

Width overall.
Width at the bars
Width at the bags, inclusive of bag guards

I need this info to make sure I can get the bike out of the driveway. My FLD is a relatively narrow bike. The hardbags are thinner than the touring bikes.

You need the width so you know it can get out of the driveway?

It's less than half as wide as a car.

Touring bikes tend to be roughly the same width as each other. The possible few inches differences is not going to be enough to make a difference in what you are describing.

He asked a simple question. Maybe he has to squeeze between a vehicle and a fence or building. I had the same situation at my previous house. Neighbors fence ran along one side of driveway, with my truck parked in driveway, tight to fence, I had to squeeze between truck and my house to get to my garage with about 2 inches to spare on each side.

Best bet is test ride again and this time take it down your driveway. Things like how clumsy it is to maneuver at walking speeds will come into play if the clearance is in fact so tight that a couple of inches matter. That clumsiness will vary with the individual, with the person's height and inseam being a significant factor.

Actually, yes, it would make a difference.

I am the same way, has to fit between the truck and garage door opening. That is unless I want to park something outside (that's not going to happen).

I think it's probably pretty close to my 2016 RK, which is 34 inches wide at the handlebars. The bags, bag guards and engine guard are all a couple of inches narrower.

The handlebars were the widest point but you could add engine guard foot rests that would be wider.
