The stock M8 Touring bikes are Speed limited at 176 KPH, once the limiter has turned on it requires the bike to slow to 171 KPH to turn power back up in the engine.

176 Kph = 109.36 mph
171 Kph = 106.25 mph

There is also Torque management that starts to control the throttle blade as you approach those speeds so it doesn't hit real hard on the limiter.

I was pretty sure all the dyno's are 5th gear runs and thats where it is limited. I thought I had heard that 6th gear was not limited at that speed.

Are the CVO's the same or are they set at a higher speed?

My M8 seems to be speed limited by the right handgrip and my desire to keep my license.

They are all the same for 2017 for the speed limiter on the M8. Also you can get mislead with dyno graphs if you do not know the gear there run in. 6th gear will typically show 5 hp and 5 ft lbs more than when run in 5th gear. The engine is not making any more its just the dyno causing it. Between dyno to dyno differences and people playing games with how they dyno you have to read between the lines many times.

6th will give you higher readings, but it's been my understanding that this is due to the different power paths through the transmission, 6th being direct drive, and not due to the dyno causing it.

Correct?

Thanks for the info. Can you tell us where you got it?

Some would like you to believe that but it is not true. One of the tricks people play with the dyno is to sit on the seat or not sit on the seat, that will change the power readings too. Many many tricks and it has ruined the purpose of the report IMHO.

I took it out of the calibration setup points in the calibrations that get installed into the ECM.

I don't believe this is factual.... or at least completely accurate. There WAS a 4-5hp difference berween the 6th gear vs 5th gear dyno runs on my 2017 stock CVO Limited 114. However, after upgrading with the 117 performance kit, Street Cannons and Pro Street Tuner, the 5th and 6th gear dyno runs were absolutely IDENTICAL other than hitting the speed or rpm limiters at different times. The graph lines were directly on top of one another. Thoughts???? Torque management coming into play with the pre-programmed Street Tuner map??? I know the tech and was "in the room" during all the runs. Straight up dyno runs.
