Default Transmission issue?

2017 street glide.

i have noticed this issue twice while riding. I've pulled up to a stoplight.... and downshifted to 1st. But once in 1st the shift lever can still be pressed downward.

To clarify- usually in 1st gear, if you pull the clutch and push the shift lever down, there is a stop that prevents the lever from moving downward. The two times I am describing, it's like there was no stop.... and I could sit there and push the lever down repeatedly, of course just without shifting any gears.

I have checked the fluid level, and it is correct.

has anyone else experienced this?

Perhaps someone one who understands this transmission better than I do has some thoughts?

Thanks for the help.

Thats weird.. Just a thought, your 100% sure that when you first shifted into first, it truly was in first and not neutral due to some unusualy high resistance to the lever moving?

Make sure the shifter isn't rotating on the shaft.

Mine has done it a few times, typically when I slow down and have to drop several gears to get to first. I let off clutch and let gear engage and "double clutch" and am able to shift with no problem.

You should engage the clutch between gears. Doing so will prevent any issues like this. I mostly coast to a stop, so I downshift, let the clutch out a little to engage the gear, and repeat until I'm at a stop.

The Problem is that the tranny is not going all the way into gear.. Hold down gently on the shift lever and the hold the front brake then let the clutch out slowly. You'll feel it drop into first.

The problem is the frikken scissor gear on first in the tranny. The clutch stops spinning and first gear tranny clutch dogs but face to face keeping the tranny from going all the way into gear.

Sounds like a possibility of a clutch issue

Downshift and then stop. Stopping and then downshifting does not allow the gear to fully engage. There isn't anything broken or wrong - you're just not operating it correctly.
