Bye the way, I took another 4 ounces out of my primary yesterday...again.

Come on MOCO, step up to the plate because it is your product and your responsibility to make it right. Do the right thing.
Well you got your wish. Customer just called and is ~4600 miles into the trip. Said he started checking trans fluid each morning before they took off again. Each day nothing changed, so he dropped to every other day and now after ~4600 mile still no drop in fluid level.

I have not said, nor will I at this time. No need to get peoples hopes up until I know that something really works. The first time I did a mod and it improved things, this second set seems to be looking good and until this testing is done after he gets back, I do not know if it's really fixed or not. People need to remember that this is a one bike test and that is really not good enough. If his is really fixed, I will do it to another bike that has the issue. If it fixes that one then I really have something in the fix, otherwise its just no good.

Well I spoke too soon. I auto tuned my bike for about 30 minutes. This included some 5-6k rpms sustained to populate the VE tables under various throttle positions. I'm checking from the original level to now, I dropped from above the F mark to the top of the X. About 1/8"- 3/16" drop on the stick. Soo.. under high RPM, I migrated fluid over. I'll have a chat with the dealer now.

Steve: On the one hand you say that you've fixed a bike, but on the other hand you say that you won't tell how because you don't want to get peoples hopes up?!?
I can't understand.
I think we all want to know what you did, even if it's not a proofed solution!!!

I really think some of the dealers and quite possibly the MOCO itself are just guessing as to a fix. I believe that they have sent out replacement transmission to some dealers so that they can get the old ones back for analysis and inspection. They seem to be lost.

There is a gentleman over on Harley Tech Talk forum who thinks he might have a fix, at least in his preliminary testing. His modification was to the gasket on the transmission cover. He elongated the existing vent hole on the gasket and is of the mind that that appears to have lessened the migration of fluid. He has now elongated the vent hole even longer in his latest test. I have no idea whether or not this coincides with the testing of Steve Cole or not. He is not saying what he is trying because he does not want to get anybodies hopes up just yet. Between these two independent experts we seem to be getting closer and closer to a cause. Still nothing from the MOCO. We know the good folks up in Milwaukee read these forums religiously but they won't admit to it. If I was an engineer type that worked for the MOCO I would have the cell numbers for both of these gentleman on speed dial and would be talking to them daily.

Steve did tell us what he did on the first bike.. There are over 1000 posts if you care you dig back and read what he did. I believe he mentioned being on the right track and going to expand on the same mod for the next bike.

You did not say if the dealer warrantied the fix on the rear wheel bearing. If they did, then you got what you paid for. Mechanical things fail, it is a fact of life. Now if they start to fail too often, then you start to wonder if you bought the wrong brand of bike. Have you given any thought to what you would replace yours with?
