I haven't yet.. going to hold off till bike week in Oct.. good chance to check some out in person (unless I get to check some out ahead) Plus there is usually one or two vendors doing on site installs with purchase.. so may just go that route

For the meantime.. gonna just change a few other Items out until Fall hits

Default Riser bushings?

Also, you may want to look at new Handlebar riser bushings. The stock ones will give you flex in the bars. Easier to put them on when installing the new bars.

where did you purchase the riser bushings from? What brand? Did you put them on your Roadglide?

Unfortunately, I didn't learn about the bushings until after I installed the bars. Still need to replace them. The bars have a "give" to them right now. Not that bad.

Riser bushing are pretty much a must have if you go with apes with a 10" rise or more. I don't know why more stores that sell the bars don't inform the buyers of the requirement for better riser bushings? I guess that's what these forums are good for, getting the word out.

Finally got to check out some Bars.

Narrowed it down to

Factory 47 Malo Bars

or

Paul Yaffe Monkey Bars

Going 12" Bars for sure

Anyone have any input on over quality / finish / comfort etc on the two bars ?

Factory 47 don't seem to be as popular of choice.. But I really like the set I checked out.

I was torn between those two options as well. Both are excellent quality, both have a great look and finish. MALO Bars are larger diameter making it easier for internal wiring. MALO Bars will cost you more and you will have shipping charges as well. Yaffe Bars are a 1/4" smaller diameter making internal wiring projects a little harder at times. I went with the Yaffe Bars due to cost, free shipping and quicker turnaround time for delivery. If you're going to go with the MALO Bars and want to save a little money Factory 47 does a Black Friday sale and usually offer around 20% on that day. It's the only time of year they offer any discounts. Their shipping can be quite expensive as well. Hope this helps.

A note on the heated grips. My Flying Apes left side ID came to 3/4". That was too small to swap the stock grips, so sometime before winter I'll be investing in Heat Demons.

Only downside to the Carlini's that I've found. The 14's have been a delight.

Factory 47

Just not sure if one bar is more comfortable than others or if one brands quality is leaps and bounds over the other etc..

Picking the right Apes seems like a tough choice.

So, which bars did you go with??

well was really leaning towards factory 47. However harley has the yaffe bars available by next tues for 309 bucks and I have a 400 dollar credit at Harley.. so thinking yaffe 12" monkeys and Defiance black hand grips.

gonna think it over this weekend

still have the cost of install plus any extended wires I may need
