Question 14" Apes on 2017 RK without extensions?

Hey all. I just recently upgraded from my 05 Dyna to a 2017 Road King (love it, btw), but the bars are way too short for me. I want to put 12"-14" apes on the RK and I've been told that it shouldn't require extending the electrical or clutch/brake lines. I know that KST Kustoms mentions on their website that you can do this with the 2015+ Road Glides, and I've also been told that for all intents and purposes, the RG and RK are the same bike, except for the fairing and extras on the RG.

Can anyone confirm that 12-14" apes will work with stock wires and lines on the 2017 RK (or confirm that they won't)? I don't want to get halfway through the install only to find out I need to order more stuff.

Thanks!

Just put a set of 14" Factory 47's on the new 17 RG with no extensions. Made it by 3/4 of an inch. No issues, fairly simple install.

Do you know if the RK and RG are essentially the same from that perspective? I know the SG is different somehow.

Is all the wiring internal?
looking to get Carlini menace apes at 14 inches.
This would be awesome if I did not have to do extensions.

Factory 47 run short. Had the Dealer put factory 47 on my 15 CVO Road Glide ultra. They need not need extensions. When I picked the bike up I accused the dealer of putting 12's on my bike. They showed me my order, and the box, and the order number matched.

I had Yaffe 14's on my previous two Road Glides and have them on my 13 CVO King. All needed extensions, as did my 17 CVO Street glide.

When I got the 15 CVO Road glide home I parked it next to my 13 CVO King. Measured both bars. Yaffe were 15 inches, so an inch taller. Factory 47 were 12.5 inches so an inch and a half short.

The factory 47 are a well made bar and I like them, but would order the next taller size next time.

Factory 47 bars are really nice but they are known to be about 1 1/2" to 2" shorter then other aftermarket bars, that's probably how you got away with not needing extensions.

OP, make sure that whatever bars you are looking at will fit without extensions. Most of the sites will tell you whether extensions are needed or not. Best of luck.

Thanks. I ended up ordering some KST Kustoms 12" Straight Jacket apes. I sent them an email last night asking about it and I was more than a little surprised when I received a reply at 9:30 last night from them. They said that I can go 12" without any issues, but any longer on the RK needs extended wires and/or clutch and brake lines.

Post some pics once you have them mounted. Apes make a huge difference for comfort, I'm sure you'll enjoy them.

Oh, I'm sure I'll love them. I went through a number of different bars for my FXD before I finally settled on apes for comfort. I'll post pics when I get them on.
