Default What does TwinCooled mean?

The Street Glide is air cooled and the exhaust ports are oil cooled
The Ultra glides are air cooled and the exhaust ports are water cooled
That makes them both Twin Cooled or what?

Default Twin Cooled

The Ultras come with lower leg fairings and have water radiators mounted in them for the head cooling...Thus water cooled heads.
The Street Glides do not have lower fairings and they have oil cooled heads via an oil cooler mounted forward and down below the engine in front...Thus oil cooled heads.
Same function with a different way to achieve the same results.

The way "twin cooling" was described to me on my '14 Ultra was the "heads" [?] have channels where fluid passes thru AND the customary fins supply additional cooling. Thus, fluid and air = "twin" cooling. Interestingly, the salesperson also brought the following information to my attention - he mentioned that if the liquid cooling ever failed [such as a radiator leak], it was still safe to ride the bike without risk of overheating because, basically, the bike merely reverted to earlier generation air cooling. Of course, he also suggested getting the liquid cooling restored ASAP.

The term "Twin-cooled" came out before the M8 and the oil cooled passages available today. It was simply coined during the introduction of the water cooled version of the twincam.

HD should have given the oil-cooled version a fancy name too.
They do for everything else, funny they missed the opportunity.
