Default Catalytic Converter location on Softails

Can someone please tell me if the Catalytic Converters are located in the head pipe or the mufflers on the 2018 Softail M-8's? Of particular interest is the slim model? Thanks

Cats in the mufflers except for, I believe, the Fat Bob.

Default Cats in mufflers

Rickr01, Before you spend more money, try drilling out the "cats"..... I did this on a 2011 Heritage and it made for a nice sound (and flow, I would think) and used money saved on something else.... Just a thought. Good luck, CSM-H

What type of drill bit are you using to drill the cat out? Not that I would do such a thing, just curious of course.

Default Cats and Softails

The one I used, is from Home depot, Dewalt, 12" long, 3/8" cost about $12.... Seems to work on a 2018 Road King as well.... or so I am told...

If you are replacing the mufflers, you are already removing the catalytic converters.
A tuner should be used with the muffler change.
Cats flow very efficiently already, besides, a tiny hole drilled into them will make no difference.

You would be correct, The other guy (different from OP) asked about how to do it. Also if you do drill them they sound damn good and it's money saved for something else.... IMO, CSM-H

PS: I drilled 5... 3/8" holes.... that's no "tiny".....

Are you drilling the cat and punching out the baffles?
