These days of 105+ heat index days are making it tough just to get my 500 mile breakin done

I failed to check my oil when I got home from the dealer but after a short ride this mornng to warm it up and letting it sit a few minutes it was just barely touching the bottom of the sidestand mark. Added a half quart to bring it up halfway and am going to watch it for now. This is after just 250 miles. Rough idle is still happening also but not all the time. (ETMS is off)

I don't know what's up with that. When mine was delivered from the dealer (was still winter), both the engine oil and the transmission were down to the add mark. Not sure, but I think others may have mentioned the same thing. After topping them up, mine have been just fine. I'm sure that yours will be too.

Man that's music to my ears!!! I wish I'd checked it right on the showroom floor when the guy was going over the bike with me. Having read a few threads where they were using oil doesn't help my nervousness on these motors but so far I love the hell out of this thing!

That figure actually is wrong. There were 20 miles on the bike when I bought it and I was going by the odometer and not the trip meter not knowing the mileages were different being a new bike, Actual was about 50 mpg. Still much better than the 35 mpg I was getting from my FXDC most of the time.

It will probably use some oil for a few thousand miles. Expect that to settle down.
