I too have the Oberon levers. My 2017 RGS intermittently won't start in gear. One time it was a safety issue. I was on a hill at a stop light, but stupidly in second gear. Stalled on take away. Would not start in gear. Luckily neutral is easy to find. This incident was with the Oberon's installed, but issue has been ongoing since bike was new. Wasn't a big deal until I stalled it on a hill at a traffic light. I do ride with the adjustment set to two, but the last time it wouldn't start I tried the adjustment set to 5 and no-go. Set it back to two. Later the same day I stopped and it again and it started right up with the adjustment set to 2. No rhyme or reason whether it will or will not start in gear. Oberon set to 2 maybe yes maybe no. Oberon set to 5 again maybe yes may no.

Talked to dealer. With my symptoms dealer is OK with just changing out the left switch pack. He agrees that the Oberon lever doesn't appear to be the issue.

After the second time I took in for that switch and it would work when they tried it I just got in the habit of dabbing some lube on the plunger with a q-tip occasionally, haven't an issue since.

Has anyone had this switch pack replaced on their bike that they installed different bars themselves? Does the dealer just go by your description, even if it doesnt act up while in their possession, or does it throw a code? My bike is intermittent with the not starting in gear and the warrenty is up in 2 months. Dont want to take bike in only to be informed that its not covered do to owner installed bars.

went thru this and asked them, they hook it up to Digital Technician which will identify the problem only if it's currently failing during the test in which case they replace under warranty..see the R.O. at the top of this thread from me

This is when it is important to have a good relationship with your dealership. Mine was replaced, no questions, along with the new clutch lever. It was acting up but had not failed totally.

Decided today to take off the Oberon clutch lever and put the stock one back on. While it was off, I did the snap the switch a few times. Now the bike will start in gear with the clutch pulled in. Will see if the bike still has the stumble when at idle that it has been doing lately.
