Default Tested Sport Glide, then Heritage, wound up w/new SG!

Kinda funny how it happened, as a Street Glide wasn't even on my radar.....

Been thinking about a new bike for about a year now, and my dealer is offering some good deals on leftover '18's, so I stopped in yesterday to do some test rides.

First up was a new Sport Glide, not really one of the models I was interested in but thought what the hell, I'll check it out. I was actually surprised that with the mid-forward controls it fit my 6-1 frame pretty well. I think it would be a fun ride for around town and shorter tours but the lack of wind protection rules it out for my intended uses.

Next up was a Heritage Classic 114. This was the model I really had my eye on and it was even in my favorite '18 colors of olive gold/black tempest. I was very impressed with it during the test ride - good power, ride and handling and with a Tallboy seat installed I think it would have fit me perfectly. I rode back to the dealership and was about to start some serious negotiations when out of the corner of my eye I spotted a silver Street Glide.....

At that moment the sales manager happened to walk by. He sees me checking out the SG and says, "whaddaya think?" I said I like the Heritage but this is pretty sharp too. He says, "we just got that Street Glide in a dealer transfer and the buyer backed out of the deal. You buy it today and I'll give you $5,000 off the price, plus first service for free".

And the rest, as they say, is history. The dealer is discounting their '18 Softails by $3,000 so the Street Glide was actually a few hundred cheaper than the Heritage. I pick her up later today; pics to follow!

congrats! assume you test rode the SG but you skipped that part...aside from the fantastic deal what swayed you assuming you rode it..there's a reason it's been Harley's best selling model for years now

Congrats! Hope Fall and Winter goes quick for the both of us. In the meantime we can admire them in the garage. Which is a lot more satisfying than it might sound.

Actually MJ the Street Glide was the one I didn't test ride LOL. First and only time I rode a SG was at a dealer's demo day way back in '14 when the Rushmores were first introduced. I really liked that one so I figured with the additional upgrades since then the '18 would be even better. I haven't been disappointed. Still love the Kings but I was lured by the siren song of a great deal.

Here's some pics I took during a quick break from riding:

Getting creative....
