This maybe a dumb question, when I’m low on fuel and the (R) symbol shows decreasing low miles, I also have a screen that displays the LF with a high number that increases usually around 200 and slowly increasing. I figure it means low fuel. What actually is this this and it’s meaning.

 

I'm thinking it's meaning how many miles you have left on low fuel or "reserve" until empty. I'm not sure though

 

That is the R symbol for remaining. This is a separate symbol that only appears when the low fuel light is on and the number increases in stead of deceasing. LF###

 

The R means that you're drawing fuel from the reserve. The high number that is increasing is either your a or b trip setting. So as you scroll through your odometer it will display bike mileage, A trip mileage ( I usually set this to zero every time I fuel up) and B trip mileage (I set to zero for my ride/trip mileage) Your Reserve mileage display only shows when you're on Reserve and it is usually a small number, say 30?, and it decreases showing how much till empty. My ride is a 2018 Ultra LTD Anniversary so it should be similar to your ride, Canadian though. I'm a retired motor officer too, and I hope that you're enjoying life as much as I am. Dutchy

 

I had this problem in Breakout and it was the clogged fuel tank vent

 

it isn't a 'problem' and having a clogged fuel tank vent wouldn't have anything to do with it anyway.

LF means low fuel, and the number that appears after it that keeps increasing is the mileage since the light first popped on. apparently, it can be turned off as well.

Good explanation. Except there is no reserve. The “r” simply means remaining.

 

And it's only an estimate of miles to empty based on most recent riding style/performance.
