Default D&D Billet Cat question

I've got the D&D Billet Cat exhaust installed on my '17 RGS. RS 468 cam, Heavy breather, Power Vision + Target Tune. I just installed the Target Tune and I started with a FM base map and ran a few auto tune sessions with the Target Tune and it seems to be running good and I'm getting close to 42 mpg... this is already better than the dyno tune that I had done according to my butt dyno.

Big question for you guy s running the D&D Billet Cat... is it really supposed to be that raspy and loud on deceleration? If I wind it up good and let off the throttle its got quite a raspy bit of racket going on, not lean popping band back firing but very aggressive sounding. Admittedly this is my first real performance exhaust I've had on a bike. I've got the quick tune Decel parameters in fuel and spark set for 10% and 5% respectively and that didn't change anything.

Is that just the nature of this exhaust? or Do I have some further tuning / tweaking to do to keep that at bay?

Mine does the same thing and so did the Fat Cat on my 103 Twin cam. The Billet Cat is just louder. If I down shift and let off the throttle coming down a mountain it's like a Jake Brake on Diesel.

Yeah... a Jake Brake... that's the best way to describe it.

Second gear is pretty brutal... if I wind up to 3500-4000 rpm in the neighborhood and then let off the throttle, it's louder on the decel than when accelerating and way too loud for the neighbors first thing in the morning. I don't mind loud, my Sportster is loud as hell but is well behaved.) The Billet cat might be a bit much for me... lol

Give FM a call, see if they have some ideas. They may suggest you add or subtract fuel/timing in the decel area of the map.

I might just do that this afternoon. I'm currently running the base map that FM sent me. That was sent to DynoJet for Target Tune enablement. and I've done about 3 AutoTune Wide Band tune runs off that. I've added 10% fuel + 5% spark to the Decel parameters in QuickTune as well and I can't tell any difference in the the deceleration racket. Maybe they can take a look at my latest autotune and make suggestions or whip up a new TT enabled base map for me to start over with.

well, to start with, you shouldn't be winding it up to 3500-400 in the neighborhood first thing in the morning. you can control a lot of how loud your pipe is by modulating your right wrist.

but, the pipe may still be too loud, i can't say. never heard one.
