Default Discovered a new audio feature...

Maybe you all know this. If you do, sorry for the thread. If not, maybe you’ll be enlightened just as I was.

I have a new IPhone XS. When I connect the iPhone via Bluetooth to the Infotainment system (‘17 vintage with oem softwar), and then press and hold the voice recognition switch on the Ultra Limited for about 5 seconds, it invokes Siri on the phone. Press it until a screen comes up on the Infotainment screen. Then via my headset Siri responds to any command she would respond to as if talking directly to the iPhone. For example:
”Hey Siri, call [name in contacts]”
”Hey Siri, send message to [name in contacts”
”Hey Siri, what is the weather in [wherever]”
” Hey Siri, play [Song on your iPhone, Album on iPhone, Playlist on IPhone”]
” Hey Siri, where the hell am I?”

All the audio is played through the infotainment system to the output device selected.

Well, I think it’s cool, and was not aware of this feature.

I just wish the infotainment system had a more robust vocabulary that it recognized. Such as:
”Show weather”
”Zoom in/out “
“ CB Channel [X]”
”Turn on [Am, FM, Sirius, etc...]

well, I think it’s cool.

I've used that trick many times. Works well! In fact the intercom/phone call thing works perfectly. No one ever knows I'm on my bike during calls.

I agree. People have been surprised when they find out in talking to them at 70mph. I don’t do it often, but occasionally there’s a call a need to pick up,

Yep, and you don't need WHIM!! I see WHIM as such a waste.

Headset paired to Phone. Phone paired to Infotainment. Done
