Default Exhaust Question

Was thinking about switching my headers to a set of free flow ones. I have a pro street tuner. Could the new headers void my warranty? Thanks in advance

I would think your tuner already voided your warranty.

No cat = No EPA compliance. Your dealer may work with you, but its spelled out here in thread after thread and more importantly in your purchase contract.

no, not the hd pro street tuner. it is epa compliant.

technically, the non cat headpipe would void your warranty. but, that is a 'grey' area. the dealers are supposed to plug in your bike to the digital tech when it comes in for warranty work and the presence of a aftermarket tuner automatically flags your bike for cancellation of the powertrain warranty. the digital tech does not know if you have a non cat headpipe or not. and the dealer may or may not let something like that slide. the other problem is that the maps for the pro street tuner are all based off of se parts. and since there is no se option for cat delete, your map is not going to be optimum. plus all the maps are epa compliant as well, and you cannot 'tune' the bike outside of those parameters.

Thanks for the input. I ask the service manager and was told that as long as I used a hd tuner I was good. Thanks again everyone for the replies.

screw what any HD dealership employee tells you..the answer to your question "Could the new headers void my warranty?" is in your Owners Manual, which explicitly states the limited powertrain warranty terms and conditions are a contract between the manufacturer and the owner, and dealerships are independent. It also says altering or tampering with street legal emissions is a violation..so if you put an emissions defeating exhaust on and they are aware you could be denied a powertrain warranty claim if it came down to an inspection because of the violation..it's that simple..enter at your own risk

Dyno results prove a free flowing header does not benefit a better performance.

Really...? Benefit a better performance than what? Full stock exhaust?

I’d love to see that proof. Care to share?

Cat pipe vs non cat pipe no performance gains. Google it.
