Default Weird idle when hot

Road over the weekend in hotter than normal weather (90*s) and after coming to a stop the motor would increase to about 1000 rpms after a few seconds with a weird sound and idle (have slip-on exhaust). A small blip of the throttle would bring the motor back to normal idle but it would increase again after a few seconds.

A few guys in my group said it may be the motor shutting down a spark plug or alternating cylinders to run cooler. Any truth to this????

Wondering if this warrants a trip to service or not.

Thanks

Absolutely EITMS. Remain calm, ride on.

If you want to see the status of EITMS, you can hit the little "i" button on your right hand controls

Definitely the EITMS. When the engine temps hit a certain temps, it shut the ignition down to the rear cylinder when idling. No big worry.

Roll the throttle forward and hold until the cruise control light blinks red then you have turned off your eitms and your bike will idle normally.

Did anyone mention EITMS yet? That is probably the issue.

Leave it on, it helps keep the rear cylinder cooler during idle. Unlike the pre-M8 motors, it works really well on the new ones.

How do you turn EITMS back on?
