Default 114 barrels can be bored to 124?

Not sure about the 114's to 124 but I know the 107 barrels can be bored to 120 safely. And I hear the 114's can go out to 124. I just want to be sure, and if they can go to 124 do they have to be seasoned barrels with many heat cycles?
Will the sealing surfaces be good at 124 ? Is there enough meat at the bottom of the spigot/barrel ?

Peace, and thank you.

Do the 114 barrels have a thicker liner than the 107? That's the question. I have no idea, but considering manufacturing practices I'd bet they're the same liner before they're designated for a 107 or a 114.

I might be wrong but I think the 107 and the 114 barrels are the same if we are talking factory 107 and 114 engines...I think the CI difference between the 2 is that the crank is different not the bore size

The stroke is the difference between 107/114. If you are considering a 124/128, I would look into aftermarket cylinders. From my understanding the cylinder sleeves are slightly thicker, made to a higher standard than the stock cylinders.

OK Scuda so this is what I know

HD only offers three barrels from OEM
107 which is really 106.5464 or 4.375 x 100mm bore @10.0:1
114 which is really 114.018 or 4.500 x 102 mm bore @10.5:1
117 which is really 117.378 or 4.500 x 4.075 bore @ 10.2:1

All deck heights are the same regardless of capacity.

Then there is the SE Big Bore upgrade kit that offer a 4.075 bore cylinder and piston for each of the OE sizes

107 to 114 which is really 114.117 or 4.375 x 4.075 bore @ 11.0: 1
114 to 117 which is really 117.378 or 4.500 x 4.075 bore @ 11.0: 1
Same barrels here just wrist pin height different on pistons.

Other than this I believe the 114 barrels can go out to 124, just not sure enough to go and get it done.
Another question while here the oil filter is the same as the TC one is there a filter aftermarket with a longer body than the OEM oil filter that is useable, fits and micron compatible ?
OEM and SE I have a handle on mostly .

Peace.

I have the complete leftovers from a 114 to 117 stage kit , less than 300 miles on them.Heads, barrels lifters, cam,TB, push rods and more,I'll be using bits from these.
If 124 is off the menu I'll go 120.

Peace.

107 cylinders can be bored to 4.125"
114/117 cylinders can be bored to 4.185"

Going larger than these sizes is just asking for trouble on a street engine. SE cylinders are just the same ones as the 114/117 cylinders.

I assume you meant that boring stock cylinder larger than that is asking for trouble, What about the after market cylinders like the S&S with a 4.250" bore -- they certainly seem reliable. Were you including them in the discussion?

As I understand it, the OP only asked about stock cylinders, so my answers were just on those. In the after market we already have cylinders that go to 4.500" bore for the M8.

Sorry I am not trying to hijack this thread. I have had a question on my mind and you guys seem to be the ones to answer it.

I own a 2017 CVO with a 114. Is there a difference between the SE114 in 2017 and the 114 offered in many models for 2018 and 19?

Thanks
