Default Gloss black CVO heat shield coating

Does anyone know what coating process HD uses for the M8 CVO FLTRXSE gloss black heat shields? I want to have my after market exhaust system heat shields coated to look like the stock CVO ones. I have been to 3 coaters and they all say it is not a ceramic or powder coat finish.

I second that. My powder coater said the same thing, I had a set of stock black heat shields powder coated gloss black. Before I had the stage 2 installed and the engine dyno tuned, they got very dull close to the heads due to the heat. After the stare 2, they no longer dulled (after re-coating them.)

Thanks for the replies. Anodized, interesting because I thought anodized wouldn't handle those kind of exhaust temps close to the heads. Guess I have find a local anodizing shop and see what they say. Hopefully not too pricey.

As far as powder coating goes, I have had the same experience as LN Nation with dulling, Never could get the same level of mirror gloss as the HD CVO shields, even after tuning. The coater I use recommended ceramic coating pipes inside and outside, using a heat dispersing coating on the back side of the shields to reduce local hot spotting and a two step black/clear high gloss powder coat on the front of the shields. Also pricey.

Also interested in this, did you ever find out if they were anodized?
