I've done both. HD stage 2 and aftermarket stage 2. My 17 RGS was stage 1 for about a year. After that I did the upgrade listed in my sig. Ride ability was FANTASTIC. Sound was IMO about the best you can get for an M8. Bike pulled hard and throttle response was instant. I love that bike.

Traded for a 2020 RGS about 2 months ago. @ weeks later had the stage 2 torque cam installed Runs good, pulls pretty good....not sure its quite as good as my 17 and doesn't sound as good, but different slip ons so not really a good comparison.

Yes compression and a cam make for a great exhaust note. The 12.1 to one does fine on pump gas, it was tuned on pump gas. I've only had it ping a couple times, and it was not when getting on it hard. I was a low rpm on a mountain hill around 2200 rpm at 45 mph or so, easy fix, drop a gear. Its only happened twice.

I ran it on 89 in North West AR, never did ping but paid attention to rpm and kept them above 2500 if any load, normal cruising at 2200 was fine, as was hard acceleration.

My TC at 11.3 to 1 is much more prone to pinging. Will not run right on 89. Doesn't much care for ethanol either, I usually run an octane boat with it.

I have a 124, around 145 horsepower at the tire. I ride mine to work all the time when it’s dry. I have about 7000 miles on the build, 33k on the bike. You can absolutely daily ride a hot rod.

I’ve thought about getting a daily rider but I feel like I would just keep riding my road glide, I have a 25 mile commute and take the long way home a lot.

I went with the torque cam and could not be happier. Yes noticed it right off the lot. No less reliable. Runs better, at least I think it does. No break in period. That’s for your rings. The dealer will tune it with the Se tuner.
go for it
