You can get away without removing the heads, not sure if the one time cost of the tool is worth it you.

If I had a 128 build and was only getting 117 hp. I would be looking to do something different also. Not trying to be a smart ***, but that seems awful low for hp.

Wanting to do the 128 kit this winter but was going to go with the 548 cam. Anyone suggest who's kit to use? I've looked at TR Performance, FuelMoto, Kevin Baxter, S&S to name a few. I'm looking for exact fit, pre-assembled ring gap in the cyl. I can install the rings just want them adjusted as I don't have the file or Mic to do it.

I talked to S+S about their new 540 cam and they advised it is more of a low end tq cam. I asked about how it would compare to my 475 in my upcoming 128. They said the 475 would work very well in the 128 with good bottom end and very strong mid, the 540 would shine more on the very bottom. I don't ride at 2k rpms but for a blink of the eye so I'm not concerned about having all the tq at 2k-2500k rpms, I'm more of a 3k rpm up kind of rider so I prefer a strong mid range cam so I will be keeping my 475 for the 128 big bore. S+S also advised the new 540 cam will not sound nearly as good as the 475 at idle, they said it will be a very smooth idling cam with very little lope, I checked out after hearing that! The 475 sounds awesome and I do not want to give that up!

Good info! I like the low end stuff, and some lope. This winter's money will go to suspension, and maybe even an audio upgrade. Maybe next winter I will re-cam We will see what comes out that I just MUST have...

I am sure many will provide their opinion of who provides a great kit as you described that your looking for, I for one choose Fuel Moto. Everything you asked for is complete in their kit. And they will take the time to discuss your build and riding style to get the results your looking for.

Not true as someone else indicated, Springs can be done without removing the heads.
I have a set of Jim's Spring Compression tool, they work great.
