I'd get a beer or something, light a cigar and fire it up and just listen to it run.

Why don`t you look in the service manual and see what inspections are due at 25K?

Pretty sure you will see that it is time to inspect, repack and adjust steering head bearings.

If you gotta do something, do something that needs to be done.
There it is all laid out for you.

my 06 had 100,000 when I traded it in last year. Still had the factory clutch plates. And I often ride 2 up and pull a trailer on trips.

im curious if your chain is over tightening.

When you put the primary cover back on and that last 13th bolt feels kinda soft and your trusty torque wrench says give er another 1/4 turn and you do, then woops it’s just spinning now, those aluminum threads can bugger up a good intentioned inspection. Don’t tempt a hole if unnecessary is my advice. Not problem on virgin holes so I’m semi kidding but poke around a hole too many times and you’ll kick yourself for being “curious “ for no reason

If it isn't broke, fix it until it is.

The bike has no problems whatsoever. No fluid transfer, no noise and shifts great. The bike has had redline fluids since new.

So am I wasting my time or should I go ahead and inspect?
It's 29 degrees in my garage this morning. I'm not working on ANYTHING out there!

I also plan on doing the head bearing. I am starting this complete maintenance with the engine, trans and primary fluid change. I was thinking while the primary is empty pull the cover and have a look. If everything appears to be good I will check the fastener torque values and button it back up.

Found gaskets at a good price. https://cycogasket.com/cy25700564.html Anyone use Cyco gaskets?

i removed the primary cover to switch from the standard cover to the narrow cover. i had a gasket ready, but didn't have to use it. sealed up just fine, and had no drips or even seepage.

The narrow cover sounds interesting. Do you have a part number? pics?
