Looking at trading into 2020 from 2019
I have the itch to trade my 2019 RG "Ballsdeep" in for a new 2020 RG Special. I had called about the 2021's and dealer said the S's had not been released yet but he had a 2020 in my color. I can trade for $10,000 so I'm going to go ahead and make it happen. The new bike has ABS, the big radio as well as RDRs.
He offered a 131 kit installed for $4870.67. This includes exhaust and tuner. Any thoughts on this? I'm not much of a top end rider, more stop light to stop light so I've also asked him about a stage III for the 114 but haven't got a price yet. I know nothing about either. The 107 in my current bike is heads and tails better than my old twin cam.
I have extended bags and speaker lids sitting in my office as well as a fat tire front end kit on the way. I figured I mights as well put all this on the new bike versus switching everything on the old bike to black to be a look alike S anyway. My 2019 has just under 18,000 miles.
Any thoughts?

I was going to say that the $10k difference was pretty steep but just looked up your bike on KBB and compared it to the list price of the 2020 RGS and actually the $10k difference does seem to be a pretty good deal. However, the 2020 is about to take a hit in value with the new bikes out next week (although many are at dealers now.) If you're going to do the fat tire front end that's going to add probably $2000 or more to the $10K difference is the way I look at it. Also the Special will have the extended HD bags and it sounds like you'll be taking them off also. I have the Stage III on my 18 107-114 and I'm pretty satisfied with it even after 3 years but there is no such thing as too much power.
Seems like with that $12k that you would save by keeping your current bike you could do the 131, fat front tire and put a lot of money in your pocket or for other parts. However you only live once and if you get up and go to work everyday then you should do what works for you and that is the IMPORTANT thing.

The fat tire kit/Mod is more than 2k around here. OP it's your money and 10k to trade up one year especially since you are going to change things don't seem like a good deal to me. These bikes lose value faster than the 80s and 90s bikes did. I had a hard time justifying going from my 16 sg to my 18 RGS for an 8k difference but like someone said you only live once.

I've got $3100 in the fat front tire kit. It will go on either one so I'm not worried about that. I wanted a contrast cut wheel so that was leading into black triple tree's, then why not handle bars then why not black exhaust......
I guess I am weighing the benefit of the 114 vs 107 and all the blacked out parts that I would still need to buy to get the look I want. I did not realize the S already had extended bags.
I'm getting $2000 more than I paid for the bike, which I got from trading a 2016 that I bought dirt cheap, etc.
I don't think the 131 excited me as much as a torque cam and exhaust but it was offered.
Anyone know the prices on 21's yet?

So I went to the dealer yesterday to pick up parts for my 18SG the sales guy comes up and asked if I’m interested in moving up to a 21, I say I’m not sure so into his office I go and after a few minutes he says my bike plus $18000 and this will get me a Special in Chrome. I said no thanks.
