Both of my '21s and my new '22 do that. It doesn't always happen but just often enough to catch you off guard the 1st couple of times.

My '17 Ultra had the hydraulic clutch and the new cable clutch is much improved....EXCEPT for the adjustor. The adjustor is a PITA to get just right and it is even worse if you have lower fairings. My '21 CVO Street Glide did not have lower fairings which was great but getting the clutch feel exactly right took quire a bit of experimentation and some luck.

Are there any videos of this "click" with articulating the clutch? I couldn't find anything on youtube, but I'm having a hard time understanding this. On my own bike, the clutch articulation is completely smooth--and its cable--but it's a softail. I guess there is a difference between the two of touring and softail.

Maybe this will give me an excuse to go to the dealer to try this out. Hmmm...interesting.

Touring - Clutch Cable Notice spring on lever

Softail -- No Spring

I don’t think it moves the lever enough to catch on video, on mine, it’s just a little bump or click sometimes when shifting. It akin to feeling the first gear clunk in your foot, but less intense, and in your clutch hand instead. That’s the best way I can describe it.

Pretty good description. I just got back from the 1K breakin service- it is MUCH less frequent...happened once or twice in a 45 mile ride no highways (ie: fair amount of shifting). Before it happened like 85-95% of the time.

Two of my bikes are cable, and two are hydraulic. I'm with you, I like the hydros better.

Yes, I have the same feeling when downshifting on my '22 SG. Never discussed with the dealer though.

Funny and I thought it was just me. Yeah, same bike, not every time but occasionally a click on a clutch pull.

‘22 SGS and I have the “click” in clutch pull too. Not always, like others have mentioned. If I shift like I’d shift my dump truck, then there’s no click….if I shift like I normally ride (like I stole it), I can’t reproduce the “click” at will.

Click was present from when I rode it off the lot with 8 miles on it last week. I replaced the bars a couple days ago and added the Fat Baggers 6” cable extension and clutch cable click still present. Bike has 700 miles on it now, and just performed a complete clutch adjustment ahead of schedule. It definitely needed it already judging by how many turns of the adjuster it required.

Interesting note on the touring models having the spring inside the lever vs a Softail with same cable and no spring.

Good to know it’s a relatively “normal” issue with the ‘21-‘22 cable system.
