Oil Pump Replacement w/o Lifter Removal
Hey all, about to order an updated oil pump for my 2018 FHLTP Electra Glide.
Every video I’ve watched in removing it he oil pump also would include removing/replacing the cam and snapping pushrods, removing and replacing tappets and adjustable pushrods from S&S.
I’m just looking to replacing the oil pump, can I do that without having to remove the pushrods & tappets, to kind of keep it easier, and less costly?
Also any tips or tricks would be helpful.
Thanks!

Get a Screamin Eagle pushrod kit with your updated oil pump and seal.
You have to remove the pressure from the cam to be able to center the camplate and oil pump properly.
Cut the pushrods out, put the lifter holders in and lift them up, pull the cam chest out, put the updated stuff in, install the new pushrods, and enjoy the summer rides.

Another no.
The pushrod pressure on the camshaft must be removed.
I do not like the idea of cutting pushrods, my preferred method is to take the time to remove the rocker covers and rocker supports and remove the pushrods.
Forget about instructions on the internet, they may be missing steps, even one of the well respected vendors has posted this process but left out the need to remove pushrods.
Follow the factory service manual, it will walk you through the entire process step by step.

Or, just pull the tank, and remove oil coolant lines, rocker box lids, & loosen rocker arm bolts 1/2t @ a time in cross sequence, to the point where there is no pressure on the arms. This takes the load off of the lifters/cam. Remove the exhaust, then remove the cam cover, chain adjuster, cam and pinion bolts, cam chain and sprockets, then cam plate. *** Keep your thumb on the cam while wiggling the plate off, so it can stay in position***. Slide the old oil pump components out, install new pump, verifying orings are intact/undamaged/in position. Reinstall all parts in reverse order of removal, using proper torque & Loctite IAW the service manual.

is that an oil cooled Police 107? are you simply wanting to, or needing to replace the oil pump? if it's out of concern over problems arising it's my understanding that the Twin Cooled models were the ones mostly mentioned having problems but there's so many oil cooled models that are fine with the OEM pump and your bike is 5 years old now and if it isn't having problems, well..leave well enough alone isn't horrible advice ... but if you feel must upgrade, and if you haven't done performance cam upgrade already, just refresh the related innards with some good stuff!
I picked it up a couple months ago, it has 23k miles. It seems fine but after an hour ride home this morning from work pulled the dipstick and oil was about a centimeter over full.
Siphoned out some oil with a syringe to get it down to the full mark.
I’ve read/watched nothing but nightmare sumping issues so just was thinking about preventative maintenance.
