Default M8 with VVT and no liquid cooling

Hi,

Is there a version of M8 with VVT and no liquid cooling? Do you think such engines may be used soon ('25?) in Softails such as FXDLS?

Cheers.

Below is a video breakdown of the current M8's in the Touring family. Both Gen I M8's and Gen II M8's. Only two of them are VVT's.

They both have liquid cooling for the exhaust valves, like previous Twin-Cooled models. HOWEVER, they are using a different radiator and fill design that does NOT utilize the lower fairings.

It would surprise me if this Gen II engine was Not used in the 2025 or 2026 Softail models....both VVT and non VVT.

definitely most likely when, not if..but 2025 might be a stretch ...the ever tightening EPA restrictions dictate more efficient advancements

I doubt that we will see the VVT version in anything but the CVO's for awhile. They need to help support the price tag and that means the premium of VVT most likely will stay in the CVO's. I suspect we will see the new version M8 without VVT come in most all the non CVO Touring and Softail's for the 2025 model year.

@DK Custom
Can you re-post your link to M8 Gen II engine differences? MJ link took me to a weird blank video with British automotive narrator.

I understood Gen II to be VVT addition.

It was close - it was like a Pink Floyd infomercial.
